Line trip is one of the general disturbances in the power system. The outage of transmission lines affects the frequency and voltage stabilities of the system. A typical line trip event is followed by a well-damped frequency oscillation. This oscillation is generally used as a typical signature of line trip event. By utilizing the measurement data in FNET/GridEye system, which monitors the system frequency in real time, the line trip events can be detected correctly and efficiently. The current project primarily focuses on the design of a professional line trip adaptor in the openPDC. The adaptor goal is to realize the online line trip detection based on the frequency disturbance measurement data by the FNET/GridEye system, and to provide automatic alert notification for the clients.
